Tourists from England can come to Thailand?

The Thai Embassy in London has apparently amendeded its website saying that the English and Irish can apply for single entry 60-day Tourist Visas

We expect that these single entry Visas can be further extended for 30 days at Thailand's Immigration offices

We understand that similar information has been updated on the Embassys websites in some mainland European countries.

As you would expect this 60-day Tourist Visa comes with a long list of criteria and documentation such as COVID-19 medical insurance, fit-to-fly health tests issued within 72 hours of departure, proof of air ticket and destination accommodation in Thailand and the obligatory self-funded State Quarantine for 14 days starting immediately after arrival. This quarantine has to take place at a government registered COVID-19 approved hotel.

Another criteria is proof of funds: the tourist has to show that they have had about £13,000 in their bank account for the last 6 months when applying.

We understand that these documents are part of the Visa application and have to be shown on initial application for the Visa at the Embassy and at airport check-in points.

Wouldn't this be great if it mean an influx of Tourists arriving in time to spend Christmas with their Thai families at their homes in Pattaya!

Let us all hope that this comes to fruition.
